It's tough for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

This is the squad that has won seven Cricket World Cups, plus an additional six T20 titles, and once went nearly four years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are what's still available for a side that has won it all.

It needed as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase exceeding 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a tribute to the pitchers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It is hard for their hitters to possess a record if not provided the opportunity.

Ultimately, the result of Australia conceding 330 was captain Alyssa Healy being given a chance to deliver her most recent brilliance.

Originally famous as the young family member of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after Australia didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 successful years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup came three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have resulted from 10 efforts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India briefly halted the successful run.

That loss "drove us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy stated recently.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was awarded tournament MVP. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

If this latest epic knock surpassed that earlier display can be debated.

Certain people claim the case for final game tension. Different voices suggest with the test that comes when facing a record target and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's definite is this century was much more difficult to see coming.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this knock came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in training, it was a challenging time because it appeared my form was missing whatsoever," commented Healy.

"But once you take the field, your competitive instincts kick in and you just lock into the match."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her key asset - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the emerging pace bowler in each encounter, but this time it merely gave Healy's inspiration.

One run resulted off the opening delivery and after that the right-hander was underway.

"A chance to play and lock in a contest with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, kind of motivated me," stated Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 balls - her fastest at a World Cup - and her ton in 84 as she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

When she was dismissed her side needed 66 more at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I'm happy we have the confidence to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, if necessary, we believe we can succeed."

Those words will be the last Australia's opponents at this championship should hear.

During the last week a sense they will succeed regardless of circumstances has only strengthened - this victory succeeding success over Pakistan by 107 runs despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may probably be guaranteed.

It was in the semi-finals they left last year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy was absent due to torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the initial instance at a significant event.

Such is her determination, she later said she wanted to have participated with the discomfort.

But while she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this tournament is likely to be her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as leader.

Triumph in India would bring her to the top of her ultimate challenge.
